When baking bread, the active ingredient in it is the yeast. The yeast feeds off the sugars in the flour, and releases the chemical needed for it to rise. This process is important because without the yeast, the bread will not rise. When operating in the body of Christ, the active ingredient is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is needed for us to operate effectively in God. Ephesians 1:13 states, "And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit" (NIV). The Holy Spirit provides the continuing work of God, the Father, and the Son. The Holy Spirit is essential in our Christian life, and used as our spiritual guide.
The Holy Spirit is activated from your faith, and the Word of God. As we begin to grow in faith and His Word, the Holy Spirit begins to rise (expand). The more we feed our spirit the Word of God and use faith, the more we can fight against the wickedness of the enemy. The Spirit of God within us begins to grow. We must eat spiritual food. If you feed your spirit with unrighteous or unholy things, that's what will begin to grow within you. What you put into your spirit will come out of you. You must read and apply the Word of God in your life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 states, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (NIV).
If we live by the Spirit of God, we walk in the Spirit. "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law" (Galatians 5:16-18, NIV). So, feed your spirit with the Word of God!
