There's something about a storm! Storms are going to appear in your life. Storms that we're faced with are tornadoes, hurricanes, wind storms, rainfall, hail storms, floods, lightning, ice storms, heavy snow, and blizzards. These storms also happen during various times of our lives. They can take the shape of or appear to be financial difficulties, issues in your relationship, the workplace, your household, and amongst your friends and co-workers. Other storms include anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, grief, stress, resentment, anger, and misfortune.
We're faced with life storms, which are physical and spiritual storms. Everyone will not have to face these types of storms, and some will face more than others. Jesus states in John 16:33, "That in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." The Lord can bring us peace through a storm. Jesus Christ came and calmed the winds and the waves with the power of God. Mark 4:39 states, "Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm" That's all our Savior said to the storm his disciples were facing. We often times forget Jesus can calm any storm.
God is telling us even through the storm we can see the sunshine. The sun never stopped shining, but you couldn't see it because you were focusing on the storm. I love the fact that in parts of Africa some people rejoice and dance when there's rainfall. In their opinion, it was much needed rain for their land. They didn't focus negatively on the storm as we do in the United States. Most of us want to lie down or be lazy when we see rain or a storm settling in our cities. There's no chance of rejoicing going on in our household. We need the same approach they have even though the situation is different. Let's start rejoicing through our storms because praise will confuse the enemy. Our praise will signify that victory has taken place over that storm.
Most people know after a very horrible day of rain, or a terrible thunderstorm, there's always a rainbow. I get excited to see a beautiful rainbow draped across the sky. A rainbow signifies the covenant God made with Noah. God said, "He would never flood the earth again." When the storm comes, remember the SUN will be shining from heaven. The help you need is found in the Son of God, Jesus. He is in complete control of the storm. God's promises and many wonderful blessings are on the other side of that storm. All you need to do is to persevere and get through. Allow Jesus to calm your storms. Are you ready to see the sunshine in your life? Are you ready to receive God's promises? The next time you see a storm approaching, don't get overwhelmed, get ready to fight through it. Victory belongs to Jesus.
