Come Out Of Prison

I have noticed over my years of being in ministry how many people put themselves in bondage. Bondage is a state of being a slave to something. To bond something is to tie, bind, or restrain it. The Word of God speaks of spiritual bondage as an unbeliever is in bondage to sin. Jesus talks about people being a slave to sin (John 8:34), but He came to set us free (verse 32).

More people are starting to harbor sins of anger, resentment, bitterness, grief, strife, shame, guilt, and more in their hearts. They give the devil a foothold in their lives. In that nature, they become bound to devils (demons). Demons oppress and torment people, but you are not rendered helpless. Becoming bound to something that holds you captive places you in a prison (holding cell).

A prison has four walls and it’s generally small. It’s surrounded with cement or brick walls and an open side secured with a steel plate or door. During their confinement, they’re denied a variety of freedoms. This prison confines them to still deal with their issues without the help of others.

People learn how to struggle and still put a smile on their face. Deep down inside, they find ways to cope, and slowly wither away. Stop waiting for people to send a lifeline. Listen, you have no right to place yourself in bondage.

Jesus came to set the captives free. He surrendered His life so that we might have life more abundantly. Giving your life to Christ can stop you from being a slave to sin. He will open that steel plate door and give you access to a new life. Your walk with the Lord doesn’t stop there. You must continue to trust the Lord, die to your flesh daily, and live a life of holiness.

You must desire freedom. He who the Son sets free is free indeed. Believe me, where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty! Are you ready to be set free?
